Death
biological information
Full Name: Death
Nickname: Zoe
Alias(es): Death (In all languages), Mother, Zoe In’Finem
Gender: Female
Orientation: Asexual
Age: Unknown
Date of Birth: None
Marital Status: Single
Place of Birth: None
Race: Entity—Death
Occupation:
- Head of The Church of Absolute Nothing
- Owner of various businesses across the globe
- Death
Physical Appearance:
Currently, her chosen image is that of a pretty, green eyed, blonde woman with a slender figure—the apparent definition of beauty in this age. In her human form, she stands at around five feet and eight inches, though she looks considerable taller due to her figure.
To fit the current age, Zoe dresses according to the current fashion trends though she still hasn’t assimilated enough to wear more daring clothing. Her usual dress code is pale colored dress cut just above the knee along with a pair of stilettos to match. She carries a small handbag with her at all times, containing her usual human accessories—just to keep up appearances.
When not in human form, Zoe can look like basically anything. She could turn herself into any type of creature she wishes, even the famed Death image, though she rarely does this as she currently favors her human form. Unlike other creatures that can change appearances though, she is currently bound to her human form unless she is in her ethereal form or if she leaves her “possessed” body.

special abilities
Powers:
- Life Force Manipulation— Being the avatar of death, Zoe can manipulate life forces as she wants though at a much grander scale. Her bidning has also given a limit to this power. Though still grand, her power to use this has been severely weakened. Her range for this particular power has been hindered to that of only about a hundred meters.
- Time Manipulation—Zoe is able to bend time to her will though only around herself, making it seem like she can move faster than possible. Thus time actually moves normally, except for where Zoe moves if she wants to.
- Shapeshifting—Being an entity, she is capable of changing shape to any form she pleases. She isn’t limited to animated beings, though the human body she currently possesses hinders this power, thus rendering the power useless unless in she is in entity form.
- Soul Manipulation—The avatar of death is given the unique ability of Soul Manipulation, an ability that lets her manipulate one’s soul. Unlike other beings, Zoe is able to access another soul, thus is able to harness its energies. She is also capable of hurting souls due to this unique ability, though in order to use this ability, she is in need of her weapon—her scythe.
- Phasing—She is able to go through both living and non-living things and is capable of phasing objects as well while she touches it. Also, Zoe is capable of phasing individual parts of her body if she wants to. Phasing though does not work on magical barriers. This power has been severely handicapped due to her binding, making her phasing pass through only things with no soul.
- Gift of Tongues—She knows and understands every language spoken, extinct to current. Due to this she sometimes has trouble speaking languages that have evolved through the years since she has to adjust with their revisions.
- Impenetrable Mind—The woman’s mind is like that of a human yet infinitely more vast. Her experiences, knowledge, and thoughts date back to many millennia—even before humans ever walked this planet. Thus her mind has become impregnable due to the fact that she has mastered concerns of the mind. This is a good thing for anyone attempting to read Zoe mind because the sheer volume of thoughts in her head could short circuit any brain…human or otherwise.
- Immortality—Zoe cannot die in the sense that she cannot cease to exist. Her worldly vessel may be obliterated and cease to exist, but she cannot. If indeed her earthly form is destroyed, Zoe will merely appear again, though as to what moment in time is unknown.
- Mind Control—Zoe has the ability to control minds, giving her the ability to paralyze them, thus freezing the victim’s motor skills or incapacitating them in some way. Unfortunately, her binding has also hindered this power. The strength of her skill is highly dependent on the strength of mind of the one she uses it on. On low-level mages, the ability would last hours if Zoe wanted to, but if used on more senior mages, it would last minutes to a few seconds, depending again on the level of skill one posses with regards to brain control. This ability works on all beings with a functioning brain.
- Cross Dimensional Movement—Zoe can move through different dimensions, making her able to exit those dimensions in different parts of the world, thus her ability to reap even from far off places. Limits of this power are such that she cannot use this ability to enter magic protected places.
- Telekinesis—Zoe has the ability to move objects with her mind, though she isn’t powerful enough in this area to throw cars around. At most, Zoe has the ability to at least throw a few men with ease.
- Magic—Zoe has an array of magical spells at her disposal, though due to her binding, she is unable to utilize them to their utmost potency especially when it comes to battle. She usually only uses her skill in this craft when there is sufficient time to make them potent enough to be effective.
Skills:
- Master Entrepreneur— Having lived many a millennia, Zoe has dabbled in every little thing anyone can think of though in this current age, her business sense shines brightest. Not only has she founded The Church of Absolute Nothing, but she also owns various successful businesses across the entire world, under many names, all of which are hers.
- The Arts— Zoe can do it all. From visual to musical, she has mastered it all. In terms of visual though, she has yet to fully understand the concept of this “modern art” that is all the rage in this age. She also has trouble figuring out what “dubstep” and “autotune” have to do with music.
- Charismatic Speaker— Zoe having a way with words is an understatement. Through speech alone, Zoe was able to create a new religion with about a few millions members and steadily growing by the thousands everyday. In her past, she has convinced many a ruler to start fruitless wars out of her own boredom and has even toppled regimes through it.
- Green Thumb—Zoe has a skill like no other when it comes to plants. She can grow whatever she wants in her garden, even if they aren’t in season. She has mastered the craft over many centuries.
Personal Possessions:
- ”Scythe”—The scythe has no real form, but is any form Zoe would want it to be. It has the ability to touch souls, even harm them. Unless presented by Death herself as a gift, none can use the scythe’s abilities. The lore of the scythe came from when scythes were seen as the most dangerous and cruelest of weapons, as they were used to behead people. To anyone else who touches it, the scythe will be a regular whatever it was when touched. Currently, the scythe is in the form of a scalpel.
- Key of Squalor— This key can also change into whatever form Zoe desires. Due to its ability, the Creator saw it fit to leave its care to Death. She has never had the inclination to use this object, seeing as she has other means at her disposal, though that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t should the situation present itself.
Weapons and Equipment:
None.
Limitations:
Death has been the oldest entity ever known in this realm, it has even been worshipped as a god, thus making it seem like the most powerful entity walking on this earth. Fortunately, like all entities, no matter how powerful, they have weaknesses.
Being an entity, Zoe is still susceptible to magic. She can even be summoned through magical means and imprisoned in a magic circle, though the amount of magic power to be used for such a feat is still, as of yet, unheard of. Likewise she can be forcibly banished from this realm, though the amount of power needed for banishment is also unheard of.
The greatest limitation Death possesses though has been her voluntary binding to a human host. Due to this binding, Death is unable to utilize all her powers to their utmost strength, thus rendering her far weaker than her previous, unbound self, though it is to be noted that she is still a formidable force strong enough to be part of the current power struggle in Arc City.
psychoanalysisPersonality Description:
Death isn’t all gloom and doom, unlike what most people may think. Zoe actually likes her job. It’s fulfilling for her and it has flexible hours (She can literally do her job while she sleeps!). Due to this, her personality is that of an upbeat, optimistic type of person who sees the shiny rainbow, complete with neighing unicorn, in every situation. She’s also quite active due to her positive nature and likes to always be on the move, doing things personally rather than delegate (Why let others do it when you can obviously do it better?). Though she has a bubbly personality, Zoe has a sharp and often an abashed mouth on her, with no regard as to whom she is talking to. Though she has lived for so many millennia, Zoe has never had the patience to show for it, thus she would rather get right to the point than dance around the subject. Like most people though, Zoe does have a darker side, though it is overshadowed by her upbeat personality. She often turns deadly serious at times, though she mostly is upbeat about it, even as she tortures those who have disappointed her.
She’s a prideful entity who takes her title seriously, even though she may be all smiles and laughs. She won’t hesitate to kill anyone or anything if it threatens her pride at all. Due to her pride, she is unwilling to bend to the will of others, preferring to do things her own way. Because of this, she may come off as arrogant to others though she thinks of herself capable rather than arrogant.
Strengths:
- Calculating—Zoe doesn’t do things impulsively, though it may seem like she does. Because her brain works at a speed unlike that of normal human beings, she can make carefully planned decisions in a few seconds.
- Wisdom—She has gained enough experiences for more than many lifetimes. She has seen probably everything there is to experience and if not, she would probably still be here to experience them.
- Shrewdness—Zoe’ intelligence cannot be calculated due to the sheer mass of it. In terms academic standards, Zoe has learned true knowledge and therefore has not studied man’s…advancements, thus she may just be average in that aspect. Her true intelligence though shines on her ability to think astutely, thus the phrase The two things you can never avoid are death and taxes—none have ever cheated death.
- Adaptability—The constant changes that man has made through the centuries has given Zoe the ability to adjust accordingly; in any given situation. During high pressure incidents, she able to keep calm and collected as she adapts to the situation.
- Stubborn—Zoe will most likely never give up on a project she wants done, no matter how seemingly impossible it is. She has the time and therefore would stay on the project even if it lasted hundreds of years
Weaknesses:
- Impatience—You’d think that being Death and thus living in this earth forever would make her a master of patience. Patience has never been Zoe’ strong point. She had remembered a time when it was, but the centuries have made her impatient.
- Temper—Zoe has a bad temper, though she usually masks it in cold calmness and a venomous tongue. She does though have bouts of outright rage as seen in some incidents in history.
- Prideful—Death has grown to be proud of what she does and her status in this realm. She is easily offended, especially when talked to by lower beings—meaning everyone except her. There are, however, exceptions to every rule.
- Self-Centered—To Zoe, things have no value or meaning unless it concerns her. If the situation doesn’t affect her in any way, she couldn’t care less about it.

Their Story:
It was still nothing then, when Death came into existence. It was nothing and yet, Death knew something was going to happen. It didn’t really know how it knew, but it knew. After all, if nothing did happen, why else would Death be here in the first place?
It was then when some bright light appeared in the middle of nothing. The sound it made was sort of a big bang—or maybe it sounded like the sound you get when you made a really loud clap.
Death didn’t really know, nor did it really care. All it knew was that something was now happening in the midst of nothing.
Finally.******
Death watched as a group of creatures lay huddled inside a cave, their breath visible due to the cold. Death could tell they were dying, from the look of how their souls would flicker feebly. The intense snowstorms had killed off most of its kind; this group would probably the last ones left. Death didn’t really like that. Out of the beings and creatures Death had encountered so far, it thought that these were by far the most interesting to watch. It was sad, and yet, inevitable that they were to die—unless…
A flash of lightning illuminated the sky then as it struck a large tree near the cave’s opening. It tore through the tree easily, igniting it as parts of burning branches flew every which way. The creatures of course had screamed and huddled closer, the shivers no longer just about the cold.
They feared lightning.
Still, these creatures were curious things and one of them had, unlike the others, decided to peek at the fiery scene at the mouth of the cave rather than huddle deeper into it. It was younger than the others, Death noted from its soul. The creature was curious, yet also cautious as it approached one of the burning branches carefully, it’s eyes full of both curiosity and fear. It reached out then towards the burning branch carefully, and when it had gotten close enough to feel its heat, it yelped in surprise and backed away from it. Still, Death knew the effect it had on the creature was good as it drew closer again and reached out, this time it felt pleasure from the heat as its soul pulsed with the emotion. The creature gingerly picked up the burning branch, avoiding the bright spots where the heat came from and brought it inside. After a while, Death could see the souls pulsate with life, no longer feeble like they had been a while ago.
Death couldn’t help, but feel joy at what it had done.
They would survive.******
A few millennia had come and gone, but Death never really did count those things.
Humans were such interesting creatures, Death thought to itself. Even though their lives were so short, they were still able to advance themselves quickly. Every few years, they would surprise Death with their new developments.
War though was something that also did advance along with their way of life. Still, as Death reaped countless numbers of humans in the battlefield, it couldn’t help but feel a bit proud at the race. Conflicts were always a way of life of every creature; none were exempted from it.******
Death was getting bored.
Sure, reaping was fun, it always was especially the whole Black Plague incident, but Death felt somewhat incomplete. It thought that, though Death had more power than mere humans, it also felt a bit envious of them. Death was alone in this realm. No matter how much time had passed, no one could stand along with Death. Eventually, all those would die, no matter how much they claimed to be immortal. No entity was immortal, except for Death itself.
After all, who would, or rather could, reap Death?******
Death had spent a few hundred years searching, a blink for it really, but she was in a hurry. Still, she had found an ideal candidate in that short amount of time.
Her name was Zoë and she lived in the middle of nowhere. She had no friends, and no family, yet she was completely happy to be by herself surrounded by nothing, but trees for leagues. Death watched as she lived her life by herself in a small cottage, doing her daily chores, taking long walks into forest. Whatever she wanted to do, she did, here in this little paradise of hers. It was strange, thought Death as it watched her, how a human could be so content with what would rather be conceived as devoid of almost everything by the majority. It fascinated Death at how this woman surprised it. To be content with what one had, Death wondered what that would be like.
It was a few more decades before Death came to Zoë’s home. The woman had now gotten older, with whites on her temples, various wrinkles crinkling upwards on what had once been rosy cheeks as she smiled at her visitor.
“Have you finally come to take me, old friend?” The old woman asked, as she lay on her bed, her breathing shallow as her blind hazel eyes stared directly at Death, a smile still placed on her old lips.
“Old friend?” Death asked, its thoughts uncertain as it looked at the old woman.
“Yes, old friend,” Zoë chuckled, “You have watched me for so many years that I feel as though we are old friends, am I not right?”
“So you have seen me,” Death said as it crept closer towards the old woman’s bed, “And you know of who, or rather, what I am. And yet, you do not seem to be afraid.” It said as it stopped just beside her, the dark hooded figure looming over her.
“Why?”
“Because,” the old woman spoke, her breathing more relaxed, “You are a friend. Life had always been enough for me, that is, until you came along. I’ve never had a friend…until you.” She sat up slowly as she regained her strength, though her now clear hazel eyes never looked away from the figure before her.
“I have always wanted to talk to you, you know,” She smiled, her wrinkled face now young and vibrant, “And now I finally have the chance to.”
“Again, I must ask, why?” Death was quite curious as it asked, the looming figure shrinking down to the size of a child’s, though it was still wrapped in a cloak of darkness.
“Because, isn’t that what friends do?” Zoë asked she stepped down from the bed, as she faced Death, her height barely matching Death’s. “And thank you, for this.” She reached out and took Death’s hand into her tiny hands.
“Now that I can finally meet you, I don’t want to waste any time,” she laughed and pulled Death with her as she ran outside.
Death didn’t really know why, but it laughed as well.******
A few decades had passed at Death was getting used to Zoë’s body. It was a present, she had said, though Death had the feeling she knew that was what it had wanted from her. She had given Death something else, a key she had told Death. Something that, she had said, would come in handy someday. Still, that day Death had spent with the woman was one of the best things it had ever experienced in a long time. Death hoped that, with its new human body, it would be able to experience them all over again.
But, unknown to Death at that time, the body it had received came with limits.
Death had discovered that, though its reaping still continued flawlessly, all of its other powers had become restricted due to the body it was incase to. Still, Death didn’t mind. Even with the limits set on it, Death was still a force to be reckoned with. But more importantly, Death could now freely appreciate the race it had grown fond of all those millennia ago—humans.******
Zoe In’Finem stared out of her glitzy apartment on the upper most floor of one of the most expensive buildings in Arc City. Though things had changed due to the advances in technology, Zoe had not. Her skin was still a nice fleshed out color while her thin frame had, finally, become an advantage for her. Still, as she brushed a strand of hair from her face with one hand, while the other held a tall glass of champagne, she was bored. Life hadn’t turned out to be what she had expected it. Still, the woman knew that her boredom wouldn’t last too long. Things had finally begun to move. She couldn’t help but smile as she sipped at her drink.
Finally.
