ELERI
biological information
Full Name: Eleri Nickname: Elli Alias(es): The Gray Luis Girl (to humans), The Watchful Guardian (mostly to other angels) Gender: Female Orientation: Asexual Age: Ageless, but prefers either to appear as a young girl of around 7 or in her twenties. Date of Birth: N/A Marital Status: Single Place of Birth: Heaven Race: Angel - Quattor Occupation: None. She is homeless and unemployed.
Physical Appearance:
Living inconspicuously in Arc City is an impossibility. However, Eleri at least attempts to preserve mobility with her forms. The first, a 7 year old girl, is mostly used for just this. She appears to be an orphan or runaway of sorts who lives in the park. Many attempt to take her in for noble causes or personal gain, but Eleri is much more powerful than the average thug or good-deed-doer. A game of "hide and seek" is far more fun when you can hide as a squirrel behind a tree.
As a child, she wears a dirty and torn yellow dress with light green leggings. She has bouncy curls and freckles which all add to the charming image. An innocent child, one who can do no wrong, and can tell no difference between wrong and right. Eleri takes this form to be the perfect spy in plain sight. She uses this to hear gossip and observe the workings of the world. No detail is forgotten either. Her nails appear chewed down and grimy along with her shoes that are a size too small and filled with holes. The reddish-brown curls appear to bounce by magic considering how knotted her hair is. As soon as the winter comes, she always shifts to having a coat. It just wouldn't do to have whatever good citizens of Arc City waste their money on a child who can't be cold the same way a human could.
And then there is Eleri the woman. Eleri takes the form of a woman in her mid-twenties whenever she needs to access places of more illegal natures or have conversations to gather information. This form is meant to be beautiful and charming without sensual appeal. However, it is very different from her child form. The two aren't meant to be associated with each other. This Eleri is blonde with blue eyes as opposed to the darker hair and eyes of the child. She has a slim physique that only puts enough weight on the hips and chest to make for an average looking woman. The goal for her is to appear in a form easily forgotten and not easily detectable, with few distinguishing features, hair being an exception. As an angel she still prefers the brighter colors of heaven, and attempts to dress herself in colors whose shades would most closely resemble the tones of her true home. Her excuse is that there are still large volumes of women who would bleach their hair, making it a more common sight.
Height falls along the same principle. She's at a perfectly average height of 5'5". However, it still creates a dilemma of what shoes she wears. Tall heels can be memorable and make her more likely to stick out in a crowd, but lower heels are also less common to see in Arc City. It ends up being a matter of where she's going. While hesitant to change her form in public, especially if pursued, she does morph her clothing. Just changing the shade of her jacket, adding a hood, or changing shoes is a tactic she uses to throw off pursuers in tight or crowded areas.
Finally, there is her "true form" as an angel. It isn't a form she uses frequently, but she appears as a blonde haired woman holding a large shield. The shield is silver but bears an engraving of the sun. This represents her duty to protect rather than attack, as well as her wide reach of influence and observation in the world. Her eyes lack pupils and visible iris; instead they are pure white. In this form she is taller and has much more lean muscle than her human form.

special abilities
Powers:
- Gift of Tongues – She can easily understand, speak, read, and write any known vernacular without any prior training.
- Shapeshifting – As an angel who is sent to Earth frequently, Eleri is exceedingly skilled at shapeshifting. Her job as a guardian angel has always required for her to work "undercover" and so she is excellent at covering her tracks, as well as making things happen in ways that seem accidental or coincidental.
- Potens – Eleri possesses strength beyond that of human level.
- Vita Aeterna – If her vessels are destroyed she can simply make a new one, although it takes time. Eleri cannot change in this case as quickly as her shapeshifting because she must create more from "scratch". However she is also bound to the one hundred years required to regenerate if her incorporeal form is sent back to heaven.
- Anima – Eleri can tell anything about a person as long as it is connected to his soul whether it be deep seated feelings or all the good or evil he has done in his life. However, angels cannot manipulate the free will of others. Eleri mainly uses this to detect possible charges to take as a guardian angel, as well as some of her more general work as a guardian angel located in Arc City, especially in her current state of not having any charges.
- Grace – Angels are able to utilize their angelic energy to create feats of energy projection and manipulation. Eleri can't perform anything very large, but instead uses it to create smaller feats that would go unnoticed by an untrained eye, such as that of a demon. In combat, more of her attacks are based on strength. In fact, the only thing she really uses her Grace for is to conjure her shield. This exhausts almost all of the Grace that she has.
- Guardianship – As a guardian angel of Arc City, Eleri has been granted minor rights to stretch the code in order to protect her charges, but this loophole mostly applies for her bonded charge. She is allowed to more indirectly combat demons and other supernatural forces that may attack her bonded charge, but her charge must have a nearly pure soul. The general restriction for this is a lack of desire for power, and instead acting for the good of man in a selfless way. This is what is currently motivating Eleri to find a charge, so that she may more fully use her abilities without Falling.
- Guardian Bond –Along with her guardianship, Eleri can "bond" with her charge until either death or until the soul of the charge becomes corrupted to the point that Eleri wishes to disconnect from the charge. This bonding can only take place with one charge, even though Eleri can informally hold more. This bonding allows for Eleri to continually monitor the demonic presence around her charge, as well as teleport to them. This is a one-way teleportation; Eleri cannot teleport her charge. It also drains a lot of her energy, and she cannot do it very often. In emergency circumstances, at most she would teleport once every three weeks. However, generally Eleri would not leave her charge if she detected that he or she was in danger.
This bond is also dangerous for Eleri. By bonding, she is open to her charge's emotions and feels them to a degree herself. Sympathies can be misplaced this way and lead her astray. Generally she has managed to block out the influence it has, but since it's been awhile since she's had an official charge, it could easily overpower her and create judgmental errors.
Skills:
- Eavesdropping – Eleri must be very observant in finding demons and charges. Although she can simply alter her ears physically, there's a certain art to eavesdropping while maintaining the image that one is doing something else. She usually uses her child form to eavesdrop unless she's in a bar, considering it has less suspicion attached.
- Knitting – While fighting demons may sound like a 24/7 job, there are periods of down time. Knitting helps maintain her image as a human, and also combats sloth. She usually knits mittens and sweaters and whatnot to donate to shelters. The yarn, however, is usually stolen considering her lack of human money. Sometimes it's paid for through whatever money she finds on the ground in the park.
- Multidisciplinary hand-to-hand combat – After living as long as Eleri has, she's picked up a lot in ways of combat styles over the world. It's always available, and is effective in neutralizing a threat without killing them.
- Acting – Generally, angels can be distinguished as abnormal in Arc City by their inability to feel emotions the same way humans, werewolves, vampires, or other creatures would. However, Eleri is much better than the average angel at blending in.The majority of her work revolves around having an astute sense of observation; a sense which she has used to mimic human action and emotion. She is an extremely skilled liar. Her acting is further improved by the number of charges she has had. Each one has allowed her to absorb and learn emotion patterns which she can use to manipulate conversations.
Personal Possessions: Eleri's shield is very dear to her. Although it is not always present in this dimension, she does care for it immensely, considering it is her only defense against magic attacks. She still fondly remembers the medieval days where she could carry it around permanently without looking quite as silly as the modern day. It would be the main way for another being to identify her.
As far as truly physical objects go, Eleri has a necklace that has a chain with wide enough links to be made into a bracelet or anklet with a long tail. On it is a small shield with a sun on it, representing her own shield. Currently Eleri wears it, but it is also the token she gives to her official charge as a warning to demons that the wearer is a charge of Eleri.
Weapons and Equipment: In situations where Eleri must keep her cover as a human, she mainly uses a concealed pistol and hand-to-hand knowledge. The gun is almost all for show. She rarely has any bullets, especially considering that at the moment she does not have a charge to specifically protect. She's allowed to use it as a mild deterrent to common thugs trying to give a girl in an alley some trouble, but that's as far as her guardianship really goes to the uncommon good citizen of Arc City. Shooting someone would be an absolute no-no.
Hand-to-hand combat is something Eleri is actually more skilled at. If she's actually fighting a being she's allowed to fight, her extreme strength is a literal godsend. It's a tactic she's been able to tune for as long as angels and demons have fought on Earth. She's widely versed in tactics, and it also prone to use physical objects in her surroundings as weapons, considering she could throw a car at a demon. However, in order to fight any demon lower than around the 5th circle, she has to resort more to tactics and less to her brute strength. In these situations, she's more likely to be defensive and attempt to get away.
Her defense mostly consists of conjuring her physical copy of the shield she uses in her True Form through Grace. The shield only works against magical attacks from demons, and also weakens in strength. It is considered a blessed relic, and physically is 5 feet tall and tapers from two feet wide at the top to a point at the bottom. However, Eleri must have complete focus on the shield when using it, or else it will dissipate. The shield also won't give much protection against physical attacks. Minor blows like the punch of the average human would be blocked, but bullets would shoot clean through and swords or blunt weapons would easily cause large dents. When it is damaged, Eleri must set aside energy and Grace to fix the shield at a later time. This process can take weeks or days considering on how much her focus is required in the physical realm. Limitations: - The Bond – Even though the Guardian Bond is meant to empower Eleri, it also makes her open to attack from her charge. If Eleri were to initially bond with a pure spirit, but the spirit corrupts, it is possible for her to remain in unwilling service to the charge. It can either occur by the charge holding enough conviction that they are pure that it clouds Eleri's judgement, or by the charge using their connection to Eleri to trap her under their terms.
- The Code – Eleri hasn't Fallen, and so she must still abide by the code. Even though as a guardian angel she's allowed to more indirectly intervene, if she oversteps her boundaries she could Fall.
psychoanalysis
Personality Description:
Eleri is an angel still bound to heaven, and she means to keep it that way. She doesn't covet power on Earth, but she does tend to sympathize with humans more than she should. During her entire life, she's realized the sad struggle that is humanity. For awhile she let her cynicism get the better of her, but after life in Arc City she's begun to believe in life again. This drives her to protect humans from the keys and demons alike, but it has also brought her closer than ever to Falling. Even though angels feel little emotion when compared to humans, Eleri has been filled with vigor when dealing with Arc City and protecting the citizens. However, she has also been faced with more conflicts to the code than she's been able to handle. Although she used to have what she considered a solid argument against the problem of evil, she has had a hard time believing that she should let events take their course. It was before Arc City. It was before she saw there were more threats than demons that humanity was unequipped to handle.
Between her former cynicism and present vigor, Eleri ends up with a balanced outlook on life, neither optimistic nor pessimistic. She's lived long enough to know that it doesn't really matter, and that good instances can have bad consequences and vice versa. This should not be seen as a contradiction to her hope for helping humanity. To her, the Arc is a far more dangerous threat than anything that has come before, hence requiring more intervention than previously necessary.
Overall, Eleri is considered very emotional for an angel who hasn't Fallen. Even though she does not receive an incoming stream of incoming emotions from the outside when she does not have a charge, she has begun to fall into a pattern of feeling, or at least an understanding of what a human would feel, all of which making her even more sympathetic and closer to humans. It is rare that she acts on these emotions, but she does feel them to a degree, which makes her more likely and more effective at consoling humans. Her relationships with other beings tends to be "professional", considering her line of work as an angel. She simply wishes to aid any worries or demon troubles, but doesn't get very close to any individual besides her charges. She loves humanity in general, not as individuals.
Her charges, especially her official charge, is a different story. She can't help but feel close to them, especially due to the lack of emotional barriers between them. Eleri handles it by acknowledging its presence, but not feeding it. She does however pay more attention to the needs of her charge and will do what she can to serve their needs even though her job as a guardian angel only required her to protect them physically.
When Eleri is a child, she doesn't speak much. She intends to go as unnoticed as possible. When other beings attempt to interact with her, usually it ends in a game of hide and go seek that is impossible for anyone but her to win. Since her intention is to seem like a dull and ignorant child, she pretends that she cannot read nor understand basic concepts. She allows the other person to connect dots themselves that she simply hasn't had an education and possibly has a learning disability.
Strengths:- Observant – After thousands of years living on and off of Earth, Eleri knows how to find what she's looking for, and perhaps even things she isn't.
- Loyal – As part of her nature as a guardian angel, she's extremely loyal to her official and unofficial charges.
- Neutral Life Outlook – When the glass contains 50% water, 50% air, life is a lot clearer and easier to live with. She's very down to earth and realistic with her views, which increases her chances of picking a good charge.
- Protective – This is another trait that stems from being a guardian angel. Eleri is like a super-mother with how she kicks into gear in order to protect the defenseless or her charges. She is extremely determined to fulfill this duty, and enjoys doing it. She's the sort of person who would take a bullet for someone she is loyal to.
- Zealous – Eleri loves what she does, and this lends her additional strength through willpower.
- Patient – During the search for a charge, Eleri can be extremely patient in order to find the right one. Similarly in any times when her emotion isn't affecting her, she can wait centuries for outcomes or for just the right person to come along.
Weaknesses:- Empathetic – Although empathy may seem like a positive trait, it endangers Eleri. Empathy has lead her close to breaking the code in order to "fix" a situation.
- Little respect for authority – Eleri has her own idea of how things should work in the world, and even though she is loyal to the code and those above her, she still doesn't respect all of their decisions fully and has held resentment towards the code and those who enforce it during her time in Arc City. The same holds true towards the mortal government. She doesn't believe that the law is always good and should be followed.
- Brash – With all of this zeal and love also comes her more reckless side. Although as an angel she is a good judge and realist, it doesn't mean she always acts upon it. This zeal often puts her in dangerous situations, often with unnecessary risks.
- Mildly gullible – When Eleri has a charge, she is likely to put near full trust in them. This can lead her into danger if her charge develops ulterior motives.
- Forgetful – Eleri has lived for a very long time. She doesn't remember most of the details, mostly as a consequence of not wanting to deal with all of the information. If she spends enough time mulling over the details she could pull them from her memory, but she's still likely to discard details that don't pertain to her.
Fear/s: Eleri mainly fears being taken away from Arc City, either by a demon or by one higher in command. She's always wanted to be at ground zero for crime, and Arc City is it. She wants to do good there, but still struggles against following the Code and following her personal views of what is right. Her second fear is picking the wrong charge. By having a misguided charge, she opens herself up to many temptations and emotions that could cause destruction when paired with what strength she has. Goal/s: All that Eleri does in Arc City is for creating peace, and defending the defenseless. Her goal is to gather--or have her charge gather--at least one of the keys in order to have a safeguard against one person accumulating all the keys and becoming unstoppable.
biography
Their Story: This story is truly impossible to start from the beginning. Instead, there have been few times on Earth that have impacted Eleri's outlook on life. The first took place in ancient Greece. At and before this time, Eleri viewed humanity as just another type of animal. There was little special about them; they fought just like any other animal. What charges she had had were of little consequence. She did her job exactly as it was described by the code: attack demons. However, it was there in ancient Greece that she saw the greater capacity for human thought. She was a guardian for a man who did not believe in her, but he was also a student of Socrates. Through him, she felt the wonder and his rationality. During this time, she realized that humans were more than just animals indeed.
The Roman Empire began to crush this dream as she became disillusioned as to the good of man. As the guardian of a nobleman, she saw a new face. The face of corruption and evil, especially as her charge ascended as as an emperor and was quickly assassinated as part of a long string of short reigns. It can be said that this was Eleri's "coming of age" and loss of innocence when it came to life with humans.
The Renaissance alleviated some of this, bringing back some of the appreciation of the human ability to create. However, she also fell into some trouble with her charge. Her charge was an artist, and lived a flamboyant artist lifestyle that was appropriate for the time. Eleri had a hard time controlling the cascading emotion, and generally spent a lot of time trying to adjust. It also led to a careless mistake. One night, her charge got exceedingly friendly with a demon who took his soul. Eleri felt the relief of not having to deal with him any longer, but also a pang of regret that she hadn't done her job. She later hunted down the demon -only a member of the 3rd circle- and banished it. It isn't a memory that haunts Eleri very much.
Eventually she made it around the world with her charges in between the 1400s and 1900s. Her knowledge of the human world extends very far, which is reflected in her choices of conversation and manner of combat. Almost nothing could surprise her in matters of culture or combat technique.
However, after the Renaissance, she was much more hesitant in picking charges, and avoided her weakness instead of confronting it. After a few hundred years, she couldn't escape any longer. She was the charge of a Catholic in a concentration camp in Germany. Although she could foresee the pain she would go through for this man, she also knew that it was her duty and there was no escaping it; the possibility of the Nazis using demons was too great, and she had grown mildly attached to the poor man. He only knew her as a German who would visit him and slip bread to him, but always felt that he recognized her on a deeper level. Eleri's emotion towards the man was as close to love as she could ever feel. When he was finally executed, she realized what little she could really do to protect the people of the world. There was nothing she could do to save them from themselves.
The dread lasted for many years, until she discovered Arc City. Demons and other evil energies thrived, and she finally felt like there was something she could do in the world. The city was generally saved for higher angels, but she was determined to be somewhere she could help, and requested to go. So far she has not had an official charge of Arc City, but she has unofficially sworn to protect all of its inhabitants. As a volunteer to go to Arc City, she is aware of how dangerous the place is for a weaker angel, but she doesn't expect to make waves. The choice was made because of her realization of how much danger the citizens were in, and a desire to help in any way she could.
rp sample The triplets didn’t mind morning classes. Each of them had individual dreams, but they still managed to cross over sometimes. It made dreaming a seriously freaky Inception-esque experience. However, by being awake while the other two were sleeping, the first girl could even further play with the other two’s dreams. It was a whole lot of fun for Phoebe, and she ended up waking up at around 5 AM each morning to experience dreaming from the brain’s point of view. She could play with their emotions, see their fantasies, and just feel overall like a god.
However, she also used her powers for good, and made sure to wake up her sisters when it was time for class. That is, unless they were having a particularly juicy dream. If anything then she’d wake up another sister to come see.
Phoebe finished off a cup of black tea just as Celeste’s dream about flying finished. Neither sister really had an interesting dream the past night. Mindee had one all about an endless closet filled with clothes, but none were white. She had immediately suspected Ms. Frost. In reality, Phoebe was just playing with trapping Mindee in a labyrinth. At the “finish” were all the white clothes.
Even though dreaming only technically lasted for two hours, Phoebe was able to trigger it again and through a sustained mental effort, keep the two dreaming for much longer. Hence tea was her choice of a caffeinated drink as a warm up for the morning. She needed the pick-me-up, but coffee just wouldn’t be as classy.
Phoebe shook the two awake mentally, and they shot up in their beds. They awoke to see Phoebe staring at them. “Good morning,” she said and got up from the chair. The three shared a bedroom, since if their thoughts couldn’t be private the idea of “privacy” was entirely gone. It used to house all five of them, so it ended up being roomy even, since they were at least given one of the bigger rooms than students who bunked alone.
All three of them proceeded to get dressed. Even though they didn’t really dress identically anymore, it was still fun to at least match. Each wore a white skirt, while Celeste had a pale orange blouse, Phoebe a teal, and Mindee a pink. Their shoes were flats that matched their shirts, and they also had little white bows in their hair. The white was mostly due to the fact they were going to Ms. Frost’s class, and they knew it was the only color she really liked. As much as they wished to tick off Ms. Frost in little ways, in the classroom they still had their grades to worry about. The blouses would at least serve as a reminder they weren’t really her clones. Well, they were, but they wouldn’t act like them. There was doubt to whether or not Ms. Frost herself knew this little tidbit, but the girls weren’t in a rush to tell her.
The other two stopped in the kitchen before most of the other students, and instead saw most of the faculty getting ready to start class. Of course, Emma wasn’t there yet. Late as usual. Each had a piece of toast with jam as well, considering there was obviously no point in going to class just yet. Then they had bagels, some juice, a little pineapple… and still no Ms. Frost. Oh wait, there she was. Celeste sneaked one more piece of pineapple, Mindee grabbed napkins, and the three ran off to class. Even though they knew Emma was notorious for drinking her coffee slowly and being late to class, breakfast would no longer be pleasant with her in the room.
They took their seats in the second row, but on the side closest to the door. To sit in the front row was just asking for trouble, but they could still pay attention in the second row. Ethics was an interesting enough class. It was a good weapon for argument. They also got to argue with students in the class, just for the sake of it. Plus, they could read the minds of the students and simply answer counter arguments before the other could speak, or gauge how the class felt towards a topic. If anything, they learned how to be viewed as highly ethical while lying the entire time. Such was the work of a telepath.
