Quinn Remington
biological information
Full Name: Dr. Quinn Hadley Remington Nickname: Q, Remy Alias(es): The Good Doctor Gender: Female Orientation: Heterosexual Age: Twenty Five Date of Birth: May 7th Marital Status: Single Place of Birth: Arc City Race: Human Occupation: Doctor/Medical Researcher
Physical Appearance:
Quinn is a fairly pretty young woman. She has medium length golden blonde hair that goes past her shoulder and her choppy bangs fall just above her eyebrows. It's fairly thin much to her annoyance and falls rather straight most of the time. As much as she complains about it though, there really isn't much reason too. Most of the time she wears it down since she can’t be bothered to do anything special with it. When she is extremely focused or hard at work she will put it up so that it can’t distract her. Quinn’s hair frames a round face with gentle features. Her eyes, which are a light bluish green are her best physical feature, at least in her opinion. Quinn has soft pink lips which a perfect set of white teeth hide behind. There is a spattering of freckles that goes across the bridge of her nose and on to her cheeks. Much to her own pleasure that is one of the few places she has freckles.
She is of average height for her age standing at around 5’6” but she is fairly thin with long legs and so looks taller. Her body type isn’t stick thin but isn’t too pronounced either. She has slight curves that create enough of an appeal for her. She has the body of an athlete, strong and capable but also graceful. Like most children Quinn was a bit of a trouble maker. She got her fair share of bumps and bruises as a kid. Some of the few that stayed with her was the scar on her right palm from when she fell out of the tree in her backyard and on her left elbow from when she broke her arm.
When it comes to clothes Quinn isn’t the type to draw attention to herself. She prefers a more comfortable, conservative style. That being said she doesn’t cover herself from head to toe in fabric. A lot of her time is spent in scrubs or a lab coat since work is her first priority. When she isn’t at work she prefers a relaxed look, cute dresses or jeans and a tee shirt mostly. When it comes to going out the little black dress is her go to but she doesn’t often have a reason to pull that out. Quinn isn’t overly fond of jewelry; she might where a pair of earrings or a necklace every now and again but that is about it. She isn’t the type to accessorize mainly because she thinks it’s a waste of time and money. Make up isn’t something that Quinn bothers herself with either. Some days she might put on eyeliner and on even rarer occasions lipstick but it’s hardly an everyday thing.

special abilities
Powers: none, she is human. Skills: - Diagnosis: A staple of medical training is the ability to diagnose a patient. After having spent years of Med school reading text books, taking on mock cases and experience from her actual residency Quinn has become very good at deducing the cause of an illness based on symptoms and conditions. Her skills of diagnosis are rather advanced for someone her age due to her extensive research and constant reading. One of the main reasons for her diagnostic skills is because her adviser frequently quizzed her on different cases whilst she was still attending school and still to this day.
- Research: as staple of her position a considerable amount of Quinn’s ‘free’ time is spent researching various topics as a means of finding a cure for her brother’s abilities. Research is also extremely important to her profession as it is important to stay up to date on what is developing in the medical world. As a graduate student she won a research award for her work on Chromosomal Mosaicism.
- Superior Intelligence: from a young age it was clear that Quinn was of above average intelligence. She excelled in grade school - skipping three grades - and took a considerable number of advanced placement classes through high school. In undergraduate and graduate school she excelled due to the extensive amount of learning material available to her. When she graduated it was in the top 5% of her class with various academic honors. She was a highly requested resident student but remained in Arc City to continue her research.
Personal Possessions:- Quinn is a big fan of documentation so her apartment is filled with countless pictures of her family and her life. Since she spends so much time engrossed in her work she likes to have a few reminders that all her time isn't devoted to research.
- Quinn's diplomas are thrown in a random drawer in her apartment. She keeps them as a reminder of the title she has to live up to not of what she has already accomplished.
- Her most prized possession is her first microscope. That was what she used when she discovered the mutation in her brother's genes and it was that discovery which prompted her to become a doctor.
Weapons and Equipment: unless a stethoscope counts she is weaponless. Limitations:
Quinn is aware that she is only as smart as books and research allow her to be. She has hit dead ends on more than one occasion and has had to cope with it. If she works too hard on something for to long she falls into a state of disinterest so she has to be careful not to push herself too hard. Unfortunately though she doesn't really adhere to that and is highly susceptible to burn out most of the time.

Personality Description:
When you first meet Quinn she is usually very nice. She has a certain calming trait about her and she always tries to address situations rationally and logically. Quinn gets a lot of grief about that sometimes because it makes her come off as complacent. Even though she knows that’s a bad thing she knows it’s dangerous in her line of work to get overly emotional. There are too many chances to make mistakes then and Quinn isn’t the type to make mistakes. When she is working Quinn is always intensely focused on what she is doing. She will do whatever it takes to get the job done no matter how long it takes. Quinn is unbelievably afraid of someone dying on her table especially if she knows she could have prevented it. She is the type of person to try and fix things even after it seems impossible. Because of her intense attitude toward work and always giving 100% she comes off as a bit judgmental sometimes because she doesn’t like when other people don’t take it as serious as her. She knows how important what she does is and she hates when other people ignore that.
Outside of work Quinn comes off as much less intimidating. If you can get her out of a lab coat she is extremely amiable and fun loving. She is a very trustworthy person who is loyal to the people she cares about which makes her a very good friend. Quinn can keep a secret – particularly her brother’s secret – when she has to which makes people more willing to get close to her if given the chance. Despite her willingness to keep a secret Quinn is generally very honest. She doesn't feel the need to lie about stupid little things or most things in general. She does have a twisted sort of logic about keeping secrets though. She has a big heart, her family means the world to her and she would do anything for them if they asked. Despite this her bravery is much more bravado because anything is a pretty limited term in reality. There is nothing Quinn fears more than her own mortality and so she would rarely do something to risk that. Her mortality is one of the main reasons for her insecurity. Quinn lives with a constant fear of not being enough and not living up to the expectations everyone has for her. Everyone she knows has always wanted and imagined big things for her and a lot of time she struggles with whether or not she has what it takes to achieve all of these things. Most importantly though she is afraid that she isn’t smart enough to figure out her brother’s genetic code or that she won’t have enough time to do it. She feels like this will be her big contribution to the world and without it she serves no real purpose but to exist.
Growing up differently than most of the people she is surrounded by adjusting has always been a bit of a struggle for Quinn. It’s not that she is socially awkward because she isn’t, she is extremely adaptable a trait that she credits to her brother. It is just that she isn’t really sure where she fits into the scheme of things and so she comes off as a bit reserved. She isn’t the type to just put herself out there for the sake of doing it. Quinn likes to have the safety net of her secrets in case something doesn’t work out. The idea of being vulnerable freaks her out for reasons she doesn’t really understand. Something that really gets her frazzled is romantic relationships. They aren’t something that she has ever really had time for so she never really got to experience any of the typical ‘teenage girl’ experiences. She’s only ever had one boyfriend who constantly checked out other girls and because of it Quinn developed a jealous streak. Deep down underneath all that analytical thinking and researching she really is a hopeless romantic, she just hasn’t found anyone who seems to be worth her time.
Quinn by no means is a terrible enemy but that doesn’t mean if you get on her bad side she can’t make you miserable. She isn’t easily offended but there are a few sure fire ways to piss her off. The first is to tell her she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Even though she knows she should be humble Quinn is extremely proud of her work and what she knows, insult her pride and she can get more than a little bitter. Another way to get on her nerves is by telling her she is wrong. Quinn doesn’t answer questions she doesn’t know the answer to and if she doesn’t know it she will find out. On the rare occasion she is wrong she’ll be the first to admit it, but only an idiot would call her out on it. Then of course there is the simplest way to get under her skin, using connections to get ahead. Even though she has had her fair share of opportunities she has always gotten what she deserved by working hard. She despises people who are just handed things, especially the type who rub it in your face. Even though all these things drive her wild she’s capable of holding her own in a heated situation. She’s got sharp tongue and a quick wit. That’s the least of your problems though because holding a grudge is one of her better skills. One she has made up her mind about you good luck changing it. She is probably one of the most stubborn people you will encounter.

biography
Their Story:
The love of Thomas and Martha Remington is the love of fable. They met in the fifth grade and got married at seventeen. They were high school sweethearts, meant to be together forever. But heir blissful years together ended soon after high school. In their sophomore at university Martha got pregnant. The pair couldn’t have been more happy – and scared – ready to move on to the next chapter of their life. Sadly they learned early on that the baby wasn’t healthy and there was a chance that it might not survive infancy. Thomas and Martha were heartbroken but they refused to let that ruin their happiness. One month after the startling news that their child was suffering from a heart condition they gave birth to their beloved son, Hartley Remington.
For the next few years Thomas and Martha played with the idea of having another child, someone for Hartley to spend his time with. Martha was too afraid though that if she had another child it would end up sick like her son. Thomas tried to convince her everything would be fine but for some time she just wouldn’t hear of it. When Hartley was three a doctor approached the Remington family and told them about an experimental surgery that was being done in Finland, a surgery that could their son’s heart. Desperate to have him better Martha pleaded with her husband until he finally agreed. The surgery was a success and out of sheer happiness Martha and Thomas fell in to bed together. Nine months later, Quinn Remington was born.
Unlike Hartley, Quinn was a healthy baby. The doctors told the Remington’s that everything was fine and she was a ‘perfect’ baby. For Martha nothing less would have sufficed. After years of fear that she could never really have a family her dream was complete. When Quinn was first born Hartley was a little stand offish not liking that this new baby got all the attention. Soon though the tables turned an Hartley took Quinn under his wing. He was her big brother, her protector, her best friend. When she was eight Quinn got her first lab set for Christmas. She had been begging her parents for one for months after she saw the one at the hospital, she wanted to be a doctor just like her father. As her first experiment she took a sample of hers and Hartley’s hair and that was when she noticed the difference. When the Remington’s had agreed to the surgery for Hartley they didn’t ask quite enough questions because Hartley’s DNA suffered a mutation. It would be a few years before Quinn uncovered that detail completely and learned what it meant, but when she did, she knew exactly what she was going to do with the rest of her life.
School was a breeze for her, so much so that her teachers always complained about her behavior and her attentiveness. Determined to see if anything was really wrong with their daughter the Remington’s had her tested. When they finally received the results they couldn’t believe what they were hearing. The doctor told them that Quinn was of above average intelligence – not just for her age – and that the reason that she can’t stay focused is because her mind isn’t occupied and she is trying to do too many things at once. After that everything changed, she went on to skip three grades in grammar school. For a while this caused a rift in the Remington household as Quinn was now in the same grade as Hartley. The constant fighting and silent treatment went on for a while until one day they just seemed to get over it. Throughout high school Quinn took as many AP classes as she could and graduated as Salutatorian, second only to Hartley. In the end though University was Quinn’s real shining moment.
Every university her parents insisted she apply to accepted her but Quinn didn’t care because her heart was set on Robert Jordan University. The price was steep for a doctor who owned his own practice with two kids in college. Quinn wouldn’t take no for an answer though and spent most of her time there as a research assistant. It was hear that she first found out the cause of Hartley’s mutation and decided that she wanted to become a medical researcher. Under the guidance of her advisor – Dr. Bentley - though she still sought out a medical license because it didn’t make any sense to quit after all the years of work she had put in to her degree. Quinn finished her undergrad work with a bang and opted to remain at Robert Jordan for Med school as well. Acting as a Teacher’s Assistant she used her free time to work on her research skills and small projects she had been given along the way. By the time she graduated from University she had received a research award for her work on Chromosomal Mosaicism, various awards for academic accomplishment and had her work published in three science and biology journals. She was official Dr. Quinn Remington, Neuroscience and Genetic Disorders specialist.
After graduation Quinn had to find a place to begin her residency. While she was offered positions at countless hospitals across the country she opted to stay in Arc City with her family, so that she could continue her research. After years on hiatus, she finally continued her study of Hartley’s genetic structure hoping to uncover just what caused his mutation and how. She came to learn that the mutation was responsible for Hartley's recovery and believed that it could possibly help to cure other diseases. At the same time she began her residency at Arc General Hospital. For the first few years Quinn really struggled with managing her time but eventually she got it down. Now she is one of the premier Emergency surgeons in the hospital and working to attain a position in the Neurology department, one she has been denied because of her battle with burnout. Determined to get the position no matter what it takes Quinn is taking things slow and making sure she doesn’t get denied again.

The pen scratched frantically across the paper, Quinn never once looking away from the microscope. Her notes were a scribbled mess that no one but her would likely understand but that didn’t matter. The less other people knew about what she was doing the better. It’s not that it was illegal or harmful or anything of the sort, it was simply that this information had the potential of saving hundreds of lives. The only problem was that if any one looked too deeply into the research then her brother would be exposed. They would probably try and lock him away in a lab somewhere so scientists could test him for the next century. She knew that it may have seemed rather hypocritical and selfish - after all she was doing the same thing wasn’t she? – but she wasn’t willing to gut Hartley in the hopes of making a break through and so she kept it to herself. Her research was practically painless on his part and she hardly had enough information to make a significant impact on anything anyways. At this point it was the type of research that seemed like it would never amount to anything but a waste of time. Quinn wasn’t the type to give up that easily though, not without an answer.
Dr. Remington, this just came in the mail for you from Finland someone said entering the lab behind her. For a moment she tore her attention away from the microscope, slipping off the stool she was perched on and walking over to the young intern. “Thank you Eric,” she said politely before taking the large yellow envelope from his hands and returning to her work. Eric remained for a moment, watching her as she continued her work. Most people knew not to bother her when she was conducting research, mostly because they knew she didn’t like to be distracted. That didn’t stop them all from being curious though. Genetic diseases were of particular interest to a few of the med students who had worked in the lab over the last few years but every time they tried to assign her a research assistant she declined. Quinn had always had extremely high expectations when it came to research. If someone was going to work with her they would have to be able to hold their own and since chromosomal mutations weren’t exactly studied too extensively she doubted the possibility of finding anyone who could. The real route of her reluctance though was finding someone who she could trust with her research, someone who wasn’t out for the fame or the fortune, someone who really wanted to make a difference. So far she hadn’t encountered any such person and so she continued to decline.
When Eric had first agreed to work at the hospital the soul reason for it was because of Dr. Remington. Even though she was young she was highly accomplished and from what he had heard she was conducting research that had the potential of turning the medical world on its head, even though no one knew what it was. That fact in itself made her a legend in his mind. When they had first met she was nice, she even sat on the interview. When they asked her if she had any questions she only asked one. She must not have liked the answer because he was declined just like everyone else. “Did you need anything else Eric?” she asked looking back at him. He looked up at her stunned that he had been caught and shook his head no. Quinn gave him a small smile knowing he would probably walk away now. He wasn’t the first and probably not the last person who hoped to get just a hint at what she was doing. She knew well that her research was of great interest to countless people and she wouldn’t be surprised if someone insisted she hand it over one day, until that day though she resolved to keep it to herself. A funny thought crossed her mind. If Eric had known how to keep information to himself he just might have not had to try and peek over her shoulder and get a hint at what she was doing. One of these days someone would pass her test but until then she would have to keep to herself. She felt bad for everyone she turned away but she couldn’t have any slip ups. So for the time being she had to adhere to the harsh truth that the only person you can trust is yourself.
