Jericho Gayanelo
biological information
Full Name: Jericho “Red Cloud” Gayanelo Nickname: Echo Alias(es): Red Cloud Gender: Male Orientation: Heterosexual Age: 27 Date of Birth: February 26 Marital Status: Single Place of Birth: Tohajiilee Indian Reservation Race: Magic User - Skinwalker Occupation: Police Officer - Sergeant
Physical Appearance:
Standing at a perfect five foot, ten inches flat, Jericho's physical appearance is generally that of a healthy young man. He's tanned because of his genetic heritage and because of his time spent out of doors. He has a lean musculature that is pleasing to the eye, although he comes by this by the regular training regiment expected of grab-action-by-the-neck kind of cops. He also bears a tattoo of a stone arrow-head below his right pectoral; it is a reminder of his Native American roots.
His facial features are masculine, with a strong jaw and dark brown. His nose bears a light scar in a horizon slash across the bridge from an incident as a child. Echo's hair is neither long nor short, and is such a dark brown it's nearly black. His eyes, set evenly under a usually crinkled brow, match the tone of his hair and are always full of awareness – as if he knows everything about the person he's gazing at. Women have remarked at times that he is handsome, although not everybody shares the sentiment.
When not in the uniform of an Arc City Police officer, Jericho prefers comfortable clothing. Dark or light blue jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers are his preferred choice in attire. Though he could pull off both bright and dark colors, Rocky prefers the darker hues for his shirts and jeans. However, he does have a favorite pair of jeans that he's had for three years; they are faded and frayed at the edges with slight wear and tear at the knees, but they are comfortable.

special abilities
Powers:- Skinwalker Magic – Among Native American witches, skinwalkers are at the top. They are a witch's witch, so to speak. Lore says that the Skinwalkers were capable of mind control and other trickery; they might also have the ability to conjure up nightmarish visions. Stories tell of them mutilating cattle, incinerating dogs, generating images of monsters, unknown creatures, or extinct species. They could also frighten hapless residents with poltergeist-like activity? Skinwalkers are most feared for the power they are said to have to place curses on their victims. Some Native Americans believe that a skinwalker can use a person's spit, hair, clothing or shoes to put a curse on that person or to inhabit the person's mind and control his or her behavior. It is also believed that by locking eyes with its victim, the evil skinwalker can infiltrate the person's body, causing them to sicken and even die. In the lore of some Native American tribes, particularly the Navajo, the "skinwalker" is a witch that can shift into animal shapes, by wearing enchanted hides. Although it is most frequently seen as a coyote, wolf, owl, fox, or crow, the skinwalker is said to have the power to assume the form of any animal they choose, depending on what kind of abilities they need and what kind of hide they possess. Those who report having seen skinwalkers say they are slightly deformed in their animal state with dull and unreflective eyes — the opposite of a real animal. The skinwalker is a very powerful witch. They can run faster than a car and can jump mesa cliffs without any effort at all. In human form, their eyes are said to shine with an inhuman animal glow. According to legend, skinwalkers are very fast and almost impossible to catch. However, when an injured skinwalker resumes human form, his telltale wound will give him away. Those that wish to become Skinwalkers train hard and intensely for years before given the right to participate in the initiation rituals. Sacrificing a sibling or relative is what is required of the novice before actually being empowered with the ability to become a Skinwalker. Jericho is an amateur skinwalker with barely two years of study under his belt, and his tutelage only comes from his grandfather’s ghost.
Skills: - Police Training - Most major law enforcement agencies operate their own academy in which recruits must pass over 550 objectives including (but not limited to): criminal and traffic law, officer safety techniques, defensive tactics, report writing, a 40-hour block of emergency vehicle operations, a 40-hour block of First Responder, and a 40-hour block of weapon training. Jericho passed his exams with flying colors and even set the course record for Arc city.
Personal Possessions: - Police Badge - In the United States, the badges used by law enforcement, fire, and security guards are usually made of metal in various colors and finishes and are worn above the left chest pocket on the uniform shirt or jacket. Detectives and other plainclothes personnel may wear them on a belt holder, or on a chain around the neck. Shapes are manifold, with municipal police departments tending to have some variation of a shield shape, and sheriff's departments usually going with a 5, 6, or 7 point star shape. In most cases, an enameled seal of the organization, city, county, or company can be found in the center of the badge.
- Police Cruiser -The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (often referred to simply as CVPI or P71) is a police car. It is the law enforcement version of the Ford Crown Victoria. It is the most widely used automobile in law enforcement departments of the United States and Canada. The CVPI's body-on-frame construction allowed inexpensive repairs after accidents without the need to straighten the chassis—an important benefit for a car frequently used by police forces for PIT maneuvers (ramming a car to spin it out). Rear-wheel drive made the car easier to avoid spin-outs than front drive rivals, and allowed it to better withstand hard driving over curbs and other obstacles in the urban environment.
Weapons and Equipment: - Police Equipment - All Port Authority Police officers are equipped with a firearm, expandable baton, can of pepper spray, handcuffs, whistle, flashlight, bullet resistant vest, and a radio that is directly linked to the Central Dispatcher and other Port Authority officers.
- Enchanted Animal Hides - The Skinwalker is a type of shapeshifting witch that uses enchanted animal hides to initiate a transformation into any animal that they desire, but the most common animal forms taken by the Skinwalker are those of a wolf, a coyote, a fox, a dog, a cougar, a bear, a crow, or an owl. The shape taken by the witch depends on the sort of abilities that it may need for a given period of time. The skins of the wolf, the coyote, the dog, and the fox grant stamina, enhanced senses, and the ability to traverse great distances at speed, while the bear gives great strength, endurance, and formidable claws and teeth. The cougar’s hide bestows speed, grace, and stealth, and the form of the crow and the owl gives keen vision, sharp talons, and the ability to soar through the air without alerting anyone to its presence. The Skinwalker may use its abilities to fight off or escape pursuers, with the power of each animal giving it decisive advantages in a life-or-death situation. It is said that the animal form of the Skinwalker is larger and more powerful than any natural beast. To the Navajo, the Skinwalker is regarded as having a preternatural degree of strength, speed, endurance, agility, and animalistic cunning whilst in animal form, in addition to having human intelligence. This creature is said to be able to run faster than a car, and is able to jump mesa cliffs with little effort. In addition to being a dark adept (that is, a practitioner of the dark arts), the Skinwalker may be regarded as a sort of werebeast, one that is very similar to the European Werewolf.
- Skinwalker Charms - Skinwalkers use charms to instill fear and control in their victims. Such charms include human bone beads launched by blowguns, which embed themselves beneath the surface of the skin without leaving a mark and human bone dust which can cause paralysis and heart failure. Skinwalkers have been known to find traces of their victim's hair, wrap it around a pot shard, and place it into a tarantula hole. Even live rattlesnakes are known to be used as charms by the skinwalker.
Limitations: According to Navajo myth, the only way to successfully shoot a skinwalker is to dip bullets into white ash. Often people attempting to shoot a skinwalker find their weapon jamming or frozen. Other times the rounds fire but have no effect. If spotted, the skinwalker will run away, and, if chased, his foot prints will not be present. Also, if it is fired at even at point blank range, it will have no effect, and it may attack, or run off. The only way to kill a skinwalker if no white ash is present is to shoot the skinwalker in human form.
As far as being a skinwalker goes, Jericho is quite amateurish in his skills. He has never been formally trained and grew up far away from the culture. However, with the events that caused him to accidentally kill his brother sparking the ritual performed as a child, he gained his powers. Jercho has been working with his powers for two years under the tutelage of his grandfather’s ghost, but he is far from being called a master.
His spells fail as much as they do succeed, and often they need a significant amount of emotional backing for them to even initiate. Jericho’s bone powder is of relatively low quality, meaning that he needs a large amount of it to perform spells. Combined with his lack of time to really go in depth with studying the discipline, he is mostly just reliant on his shape shifting abilities. However, whenever he shifts more than ten times in the span of twenty-four hours his stores of magical energy gets depleted and he cannot perform anymore magic for the next few days.

Personality Description: Jericho is a man that lives for the thrill of adventures. He's enjoying himself most when under extreme pressure or danger and fighting for his very life. Echo would probably have a very hard time settling time in a quiet life.
He's bold, decisive, phenomenal, sneaky and devilishly tricky. He's unusually experienced and gets the job done as long as he's in control of the situation. Jericho is a master of improvisation and can quickly adapt to situations where he's supremely overpowered and shouldn't stand a change. He often fights supernatural beings with his police-issued revolver, sparse magic spells and quick remarks only while actually managing to not only survive, but to win also. By fast changing tactics, he's overcome much more powerful opponents.
However, formerly he wanted danger and adventure only, which led to career in law enforcement, but he had a good heart all along: he now truly believes in the good. Echo also possesses a sense of rivalry that often puts him in challenging. As a flamboyant hothead, Echo also quite often attempts to flirt with various attractive women, but eventually knows when he needs to back down.
The strong personality that Echo enjoys is also one of the things that make him into such an amazing officer. He also realizes that he needs to train several hours every day in order to survive in a world where everyone has powers, and he has little control over his own. That is the main reason why Echo has even chosen to pursue the study of the skin walker discipline despite all the connotations of evil that came with it. He didn’t believe that he could fight against all the supernatural forces merely keeping himself as a human. He needed his own big guns.
Given his own background and his personality, Jericho has a desire to give criminals a second chance, like he himself was given. Although adventurous, Echo does desire to settle down with a woman that he can love.

biography
Their Story: For the Navajo and other tribes of the southwest, the tales of skinwalkers are not mere legend. Jericho’s early life revolved around the dark mystique of his people. He was actually descendent from a potent line of skin walkers, although the strength in the power skipped a generation and Echo’s father, Strongbow, did not inherit any magical prowess. This turned Strongbow into an abrasive and insecure man, which contributed greatly to his falling out with his wife. Finally when Echo was five years old, his parents filed for divorce. The two parents had a dispute over child custody and financial support. Jericho’s mother, a Navajo woman, was asking for full custody rights and back child support payments from her estranged husband, an Apache man. On the other hand, Echo’s father wanted to keep him because Echo’s grandfather, Blacksun, didn’t want to lose his magical heir. Strongbow had no magical ability, but the young Echo, known as Red Cloud to his people proved to have the potential. At one point during the legal wrangling, Strongbow got permission to take his son out for an evening, but didn't return the boy until the next day. Jericho later told his mother what had transpired that night. According to Echo, he spent the night with his father and a "medicine man." He couldn’t tell who this medicine man was since he was hidden under many layers of animal furs, but in reality this was actually his grandfather. They built a fire atop a cliff and, for many hours, the medicine man performed ceremonies, songs, and incantations around the fire. As dawn broke, the three traveled into a wooded area near a cemetery, where they dug a hole. Into the hole, the medicine man deposited two dolls made of wood. One of the dolls was made of dark wood, the other of light wood. It was as if the two dolls were meant to represent the mother and her lawyer. The mother was afraid, she knew that such things existed and she sought the help of her own tribe’s medicine man and shaman. He told her that the ceremony was very powerful and very serious and that it meant that the mother and her lawyer were supposed to end up buried in the ancient Indian burial ground. He also said that a witch can perform this type of ceremony only four times in his life, because if he tries it more than that, the curse would come back on the witch himself. If the intended victim found out about it, then the curse would come back onto the person who had requested it. The mother was afraid and thought about a way to let the husband know that she had found out about the ceremony, so she filed court papers that requested an injunction against the husband and the unknown medicine man, which her lawyer had chosen to describe in the court documents as "John Doe, A Witch." The motion described in great detail the alleged ceremony. The opposing attorney appeared extremely upset by the motion, as did the husband and the presiding judge. The opposing lawyer argued to the court that the medicine man had performed "a blessing way ceremony," not a curse. But the judge, who was a Navajo, could distinguish between a blessing ceremony, which takes place in Navajo homes, and what was obviously a darker ceremony involving lookalike dolls that took place in the woods near a cemetery.
It was obvious that Strongbow was afraid, and sure enough he died soon after. Doctors attributed it to stress of the trials, but Echo’s mother knew there were much more sinister workings. She believed that the best way to protect the life of her child and hers. The medicine man suggested that they flee into Arc city, the saturation of magic in the area would hide Echo’s powers assuming that he never killed any of his kin, which would jumpstart his skinwalker powers. And so, Echo and his mom did as they were told after being riddled with protective enchantments by the Navajo shamans.
Echo lived a fairly normal life in Arc; his mother took good care of him and raised him to be a respectable young man. She also hid from him anything that was remotely supernatural so that he would remain ignorant and as far away from magic as possible. She was relieved when she got news that Jericho’s grandfather also passed away, and that would mean that the line of the skinwalkers would end because Echo had no knowledge about the arts. Jericho grew up a spark young man, always coming home with new scrapes and bruises. It wasn’t that surprising when he wanted a career full of action and he entered into the police academy. He did pretty well for himself, even setting a record on obstacle course, and soon enough he found himself in the force and in a few quick years earning the rank of a sergeant.
Things took a different turn on the fateful day when Jericho killed his brother. It was an accident, or at least it was all part of something convoluted twisting of fate. It all took place in a bank robbery, which turned really ugly really quickly. The perps fired on the officers and hiding behind the protection of his squad car, Echo did his best to keep calm in the situation. It was actually quite easy, he lived for these things. He turned back to the robber and fired back, his bullet hit one man, but that man just happened to be his brother. His father had many indiscretions during his childhood, and one of them found themselves in Arc City.
Jericho dropped his gun as he felt the sudden torrent of unknown energy rushing through his veins. Skinwalkers had to be initiated into their rites by killing a member of kin, and that was what Jericho had done right then, he awakened the skin walker magic within him. The rush of energies caused him to blackout and the next thing he knew he woke up in a hospital but beside him was an old Native American man, his hair ran in two braids on either side of his head and an austere expression marked his face.
“It took you a very long time.” said the man. “But better late than never, you’re training can begin.” Suddenly, all the memories came rushing back, and Jericho remembered those few fleeting moments which he had blocked from his memory so long ago. Aside from the curse, there had been another ritual performed on that cliff an initiation into his being a skinwalker that would culminate at his killing of a member of kin. It may have been an accident on how it happened, but it was enough.
The old man was actually Black Sun’s ghost, before his death he cast a spell that would pull him back from the spiritual plane on the event that Jericho’s ritual would be complete. That was two years ago, and ever since then Jericho has been learning the discipline, it wasn’t for the reason that Black Sun would have preferred, but he knew that sooner or later the nature of the skin walker would overcome Jericho’s motivations.
