Angels
Overview- An angel is an ethereal creature portrayed as powerful and dreadful, endowed with wisdom, correct in their judgment, holy, but not infallible.
- Angels are composed of Essence, which is entirely different to anything from this world.
- They appear as a ‘orbs of light’ in their incorporeal form.
- While they usually have a 'true form', this is not, in fact, a manifestation of their actual true form, but merely a convenient statement as to the nature of their power on Earth.
- Angels are ageless, having been present since time in memorial and in all cultures in some form or another.
- They are free to move between the realms of heaven and earth, but really have no reason to unless there is an existence of demonic crisis. They can also be summoned by magic users.
- Fallen Angels - Angels who have severed from their connection to heaven, but in turn are unbound by the code. If they are destroyed however, they are destroyed completely as opposed to just being sent back to the other world. They are not necessarily evil, they are just no longer bound by the rules and possess a more "human" soul thus more susceptible to human emotions and senses as well.
Angels follow a hierarchy that has existed since the beginning of Time. Although these levels are originally named in an unspeakable tongue, many enlightened ones refer to them in Latin. There are a total of seven levels, each denoting a difference in ranking, importance of assigned tasks and power.
- Septum- These angelic entities, possess only the basic abilities. They can are the largest in numbers and the bulk of angelic legions are comprised of them. They can physically keep up to par when battling average vampires and werewolves.
- Sextus - This is the first circle where angels begin to manifest unique abilities. Their physical capabilities equal those of the Septum.
- Quinque - These angels are stronger than the Sextus, and have access to more powerful physical and unique abilities.
- Quattor - These angels are even more powerful than their predecessors. They are also known as guardian angels and often are tied to protect a specific person.
- Tria - These angels are called avenging angels, as they are very powerful and are usually sent into earth to deal with demonic threats.
- Secundae - These angels are commanders of the angelic legions.
- Unnum - These angels have almost deity-like abilities. They are more colloquially known as Arch-angels.There are only seven of them left and they are collectively strong enough to fight on par with all the 9th circle demons simultaneously.

Angels - Extended Lore
OverviewAn angel is an ethereal creature portrayed as powerful and dreadful, endowed with wisdom, correct in their judgment, holy, but not infallible. When their duties are not punitive, angels are beneficent to man. Demons are composed of Essence, which is entirely different to anything from this world. They appear as a ‘orbs of light’ in their incorporeal form. Their presence may leave traces of pleasant smells. While they usually have a 'true form', often a glorious creature beautiful, winged, and haloed, this is not, in fact, a manifestation of their actual true form, but merely a convenient statement as to the nature of their power on Earth. On the lower planes, angels can shape shift at will, taking on any form they choose, though this is somewhat limited by the extent of their power. Angels are ageless, having been present since time in memorial and in all cultures in some form or another. They are free to move between the realms of heaven and earth, but really have no reason to unless there is an existence of demonic crisis. They can also be summoned by magic users. Some angels yearn for life on earth, and choose to “Fall from Grace”. In that state, they are severed from their connection to heaven, but in turn are unbound by the code. If they are destroyed however, they are destroyed completely as opposed to just being sent back to the other world. These angels are not necessarily evil, they are just no longer bound by the rules and possess a more "human" soul thus more susceptible to human emotions and senses as well.
They are often one minded in their mission.
- Secundae - These angels are commanders of the angelic legions. They possess power enough to match 8th circle demons.
- Unnum - These angels have almost deity-like abilities. They are more colloquially known as Arch-angels. The 9th Circle demons spawned from Unnum angels. There are only seven of them left and they are collectively strong enough to fight on par with all the 9th circle demons simultaneously.
Powers and AbilitiesAngels come in many different levels and orders; each one has their own unique powers. But angels do possess a set of basic abilities. - Gift of Tongues– These spirits are not bound by language, and they can easily understand, speak read and write any known vernacular without any prior training.
- Shapeshifting– These Spirits create vessels for themselves, as such they can take any form that they wish. Some spirits have better skill in this than other, changing from one shape to another with great alacrity, but overall even the weakest of spirits can assume a human form whenever they require. More talented angels of this ability aren't even limited to things which are physical or naturally occurring (eg. light, scents, burning plant life etc.)
- Potens – Demons possess strength beyond that of human level, the stronger spirit they are the more physical strength they posses. At Septum, they can meet the strength level of a newborn vampire.
- Vita Aeterna – Angels are metaphysical beings and do not experience death the same way other creatures do. If their vessels are destroyed they can simply make a new one, although it takes time depending on how powerful they are. If their incorporeal forms are destroyed they are forcibly sent back to heaven where they will be restored after a hundred years.
- Anima – Angels can sense the presence of souls and can even peer into them. As such, angels can tell anything about a person as long as it is connected to his soul whether it be deep seated feelings or all the good or evil he has done in his life. However, angels cannot manipulate the free will of others.
- Grace - Angels are able to utilize their angelic energy to create feats of energy projection and manipulation. The stronger the angel the more they can do with their angelic energy such as crafting it into matter.
WeaknessesAngels are spirits, and as spirits within the earthly realm they are incredibly resilient to physical harm, but magical means can hurt them. They are very susceptible to magic, and certain magical rituals can trap angels. More spells can be used to harm angels, or bind them from preventing certain actions. Mages can also use certain wards to keep angels away, or also seal angels into objects. However, it should be noted that it is more difficult to bind angels than demons, because they will always opt to die rather than serve a different purpose. Fallen angels are more prone to self-preservation, and can be swayed to do things. The weaknesses of angels also lie in their inability to take any formal part in the workings of the world, unless it is in direct battle with a demon. However demons have circumvented this by integrating themselves in the lives of humans so deeply that angels really can’t do anything without affecting human life. Unless of course, they choose to Fall from Grace.
