General Rules ----------- This site is rated PG 13, as per Proboards Terms of Service. Mature threads involving explicit sexual, excessive violence or copious amounts of gore will not be tolerated, and will be deleted if discovered.
- This site's rules are based on Proboards Terms of Service. So please obey the Terms of Service as well.
- No out of character swearing, cursing, insulting or fighting. If you have a problem with another members, PM the admins or mods, and we will do our best to resolve the issue.
- We suggest you to be active in this forum. If you can't be online for a time exceeding a week, please let us know in the Absence board. If you're gone without posting, your character may be moved into the Holding board until a time that you are able to return. If, for some reason, you lose interest in the board, or no longer have the time to RP, please PM a staff member and let us know. We will take care of things.
- Images on the board should not exceed 500 pixels in width. This makes it easier on those with dial up to load the images and it doesn’t stretch the board.
- Avatar/Icons must not exceed 100x200 pixels. Signature graphics may not exceed a 300x500 pixel size. If this happens, the owner and/or creator of the sig will be PMed.
- Stay on the topic. OOC is allowed in RPG but it has to be related with the post like: ooc;; Sorry I can't post for 5 days because I have to go out of town or giving comments on the RP posts. But please do not discuss the events of your day in a thread; this is what the CBox is there for. ;)
- Do not RP until a staff accepts you. If your display name hasn’t been changed into the appropriate color for an extended duration, please don’t hesitate to PM any of the staff.
- Please change your display name to your character's name once accepted. So no iluvbabe18

Character Rules ----------- All new members start off with a character of average power level. Meaning that new members cannot opt to make extremely powerful characters right away. They must get the appropriate number of points to exchange for their desired character license.
- Certain characters require licenses, please acquire appropriate license before applying or playing specific type of character. This is our way of maintaining the power levels of the site. We can't have a dozen odd Vampire Elders or Werewolf Alphas running around.
- Celebrity Face Claim is a must. Do not use pictures of animated/cartoon characters or manipulated photos of yourself for graphics. They will be removed without warning.
- This RPG is set in the present time, you may use modern gadgets, electronics and mp3 players but by no means are we restricting you from using other weapons, if your character uses a bow, so be it. However, be aware that there are gun wielding people around and what exactly that entails for you.
- One character per account, but you may still opt to play NPC's or secondary characters as you need them. It will not be rare for characters to play secondary personalities in for their profiles especially for mages who have some form of familiar, spirit guide, summon, etc.
- Be mindful of powers, the site is very flexible in terms of powers. Almost any power type is allowed, but it is adamant that certain powers be prohibited such as Superhuman Speed on par with the flash, Mages who bypass rituals to perform intensive magic, Omniscience and other stuff like that.
- You only get powers that you have applied for in your application and have been accepted. If your character begins using powers that aren't on their application. You will be sent a warning PM by the staff and expected to edit your post. If your post isn't edited within 24 hours, the staff has the liberty of deleting it.
- Allow the other members to play their characters as they see fit. Forcing one to change the way one's character reacts will not be permitted, and any use of this tactic will result in the thread's immediate Locking and Archiving. If you have trouble replying to someone’s post, send that person a PM and try to work it out between yourselves. DO NOT HARASS.

Posting Rules ----------- As stated, we are intermediate - advanced RPG. Please not that minimum words in an RP post are 300 words. You can see how many words you've written in Word Count below the Preview button. Please don't use one liners.
- In role-playing, your posts must be in third person and past tense; please note the proper use of using quotations and italics and bold letters. Most members will help you out if you are having trouble.
- We have installed a Personal Font Style code in your profile, for your font, font size and font color convenience. Remember not to choose neon colors. It hurts the eyes. Also, if possible, please try to apply ["BLOCKQUOTE"]text["/BLOCKQUOTE"] every time you post, just to make your writings look neater.
- Write in proper English and grammar. Chat speak, such as a/s/l?, wat up, r u rdy yet?, etc., will not be tolerated.

Advanced RP Rules ----------- Urban Underworld is considered an advanced RP site, meaning the members of the site should be intuitively aware enough of how things are supposed to play out (these include variables such as positioning, time-frame, power-levels, and environment). We aim to make this site as realistic an experience as possible. An example would be a situation like this: If a werewolf is charging at a mage - about to rip the mage's head off, the mage obviously can't deliver a five-line incantation and expect to finish. We expect our members to be aware of situations like this and therefore reply in a logical and intelligent manner.
- The No God-Modding, is in effect but not as rigid as in other sites. Usually we'd prefer if you keep things open ended, but if one character is significantly more powerful than another then for the purpose of realism and sense, they can have their actions happen right away. An example is that if a Vampire Elder wants to choke a human, there is really no way for the human to dodge. In the situation that neither of the two characters have any licenses, then it will depend upon the powers or skill set of those involved, and their applications shall be of basis. If any issues arise that cannot be agreed upon by the parties involved, then the staff shall make the decision. The basis of the decision shall be the licenses and the character's respective applications, and the general logic of the situation. If you believe that this is unfair, then we apologize but Urban Underworld is not for you.
- However, Passive God-Moding is severely prohibited, as we view it as cheap and a sign that you are not an advanced RPer. Passive God-Moding is when in your post you re-write the events that another person has written in their previous post. For example, if another person has written in their previous post that they "Fired a gun at point blank range". Then in your post you write it out so as they were ten paces away or hadn't fired at all, then you are virtually nullifying what the other person has written. This becomes even more annoying if you re-write the other person's post for your convenience. We do understand however that mistakes can be made, so if faced in a situation where you feel as if your post has been re-written PM the other person involved first and ask them to edit. If they do not wish to comply, bring it before the staff and they will address the issue.
- In relation, Urban Underworld is a KILL SANCTIONED site, meaning that there is no real rule that prevents your character being killed without your permission. Therefore, you are responsible for your characters' actions, so don't jeopardize their health by making them act like gods or retards. Their internal world is all to themselves, but their outward actions do merit consequences. If your character's death is inevitable then the person you're RPing with is obliged to post one "warning" post, allowing you to try and remedy the situation, before the actual kill post. If any issues arise that cannot be agreed upon by two parties, then the staff shall make the decision. The basis of the decision shall be the licenses and the character's respective applications. We do not believe however that people should be abusing this rule and going around killing other characters for no reason. So we shall be imposing a fail-safe that all attempted kills must have a logical basis. If you believe that this is unfair, then we apologize but Urban Underworld is not for you.
