Dreams floated through his mind's eye as the young coyote kid slept. Running through the forest with his dad, leaping at rabbits and butterflies alike. Dancing in the rain. He had a good sleep for once, without any of the bad stuff that usually came after. He felt...almost at peace here. A full belly, safe supposedly and warm, wrapped up -in the towel- and sleeping deeper than he had in a long time.
Until...something soft bumped his nose. Kohana sniffed softly and ignored it. The second time, his tail lowered from his eyes down over his nose. When it happened much harder the third time, he was definitely awake. Blinking through his tail fur, Kohana lifted his head. The coyote was eye to eye with a large cat and fear instantly quaked in him. Yelping loudly, his paws scrabbled at the bed as he tried to back up, yet being wrapped up in the towel and under the covers had him effectively pinned. He shifted back.
As a boy, he was fast and more dexterous having two hands and thumbs with which he used to properly throw back the obscuring covers and roll backwards, falling off the other side of the bed with an "Oof... He grabbed the pack and jumped up, holding it in front of him like a shield (in more ways than one), other hand grabbing the small hunting knife out of the pocket as he brandished it at the leopard.
He cursed quietly in his native tongue, backing up slowly and moving towards the door. He was just about to call out for Catalin when it dawned on him. What a genius he was! (sarcastically of course.) He blinked slowly at her. speaking in english. "Um...Cat?" His voice was slightly squeaked by his initial fright. He paused, glanced down at his pack in front of him, back up to the leopard...and glanced to the left and right the silent umm...rather evident. He bolted out of the room.
Dressing quickly in the bathroom, his clothes dry enough and smelling good now, he tucked the knife in a pocket loop before coming back to the room. He was clearly embarrassed and had no idea what to say as he kind of just stood there against the door, waiting on her to ask the questions he was sure were in the air.
